Wounded Soldiers are Honored

September 11 was a perfect choice for our Patriotic Art Quilts exhibit and presentation. We spent months piecing and quilting four patriotic quilts for presentation to local wounded soldiers and decorated the Arts Center with the God Bless America traveling quilt show. On the evening of September 11, 2009 two wounded soldiers and one wife of a soldier joined our Mayor Mike Dumas, musician Steve Splawn, Night Owls Quilt Guild and local dignitaries for a moving ceremony remembering the 9/11 events and honoring the soldiers who have given their all in service of our country. The soldiers were touchingly pleased with the recognition! A nice turnout of local residents enjoyed a table of finger foods and some wonderful music.
